Two people killed in Camden County crash

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people were killed in a head-on crash in Camden County on Thursday morning.

Troopers said the crash happened at 11 a.m. on MO 5 south of Mount Horeb Road.

According to a crash report, a vehicle driven by James Hill, 42, of Holts Summit, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.

John Slaven, 50, of Fair Grove, was driving the other vehicle. Slaven and his passenger, Cheryl Barton, 49, also of Fair Grove, were fatally injured in the crash. A medical examiner pronounced Barton dead at the scene and doctors later pronounced Slaven deceased at Lake Regional Hospital .

According to the crash report, Barton and Slaven were not wearing seat belts.

Troopers said Hill was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to the highway patrol.
