Marshall Public Schools closed Monday for bed bug treatment at high school

MARSHALL, Mo. (KMIZ)

Classes will not be in session for Marshall Public Schools on Monday, March 2 after multiple sightings of bed bugs at the district high school.

According to district superintendent Dr. Carol Maher, there have been multiple sightings of individual bed bugs at Marshall High School recently.

She added that there is no sign of an infestation.

"Anytime there is a troubling issue, we want to make sure the public knows we are doing everything we can to ensure a clean and safe environment," Maher told ABC 17 News on the phone Sunday.

On Friday, a single bed bug was spotted in a classroom at MHS. The school was inspected for the insects earlier in the week after a separate sighting.
