Central Missouri Humane Society takes in animals rescued from Kansas City home

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Central Missouri Humane Society in Columbia took in dozens of animals that were rescued from a Kansas City home.

The 54 small animals rescued by the Humane Society were apart of a larger group of 260 found living in poor conditions inside the home. A spokesperson for the cities Neighborhood and Housing Services described the conditions inside the residence as "deplorable".

The organization says it took in several rabbits and 40 rats. Hear more from the humane society in the video above.

The Central Missouri Humane Society is asking for donations of rat food, small animal cages, and water bottles. Anyone interested in adopting or fostering one of the animals rescued is asked to contact the Humane Society.
