Multiple crashes on I-70, slick roads for morning commute

Roads across mid-Missouri were slick on Wednesday morning after some snow accumulation overnight.

Multiple slide-offs and crashes were reported on Interstate 70 Wednesday morning.

Crashes were reported throughout the area Wednesday, including on I-70 at Midway, Route Y and Bob Veach Road, Highway 63 and New Salem Lane, Route J and Highway 40 as well as I-70 and Rangeline.

A tractor-trailer overturned on I-70, causing eastbound lanes to be shut down near the connector.

The interstate was back open by 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. However, the right lane of the eastbound ramp to the Highway 63 connector remained closed.

Traffic was being detoured at Rangeline Road, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

A snowplow crew responded at 7 a.m. to continue treating roads.

This came after overnight snowfall accumulating to about an inch. The MoDOT traveler map showed Columbia roads as partly covered on Wednesday morning.
