REPORT: Officer involved in Fulton shooting was responding to drug investigation
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
The incident report obtained by ABC 17 News reveals new information about an officer-involved shooting in Fulton on Dec. 30.
The report said the Fulton police officer was responding to an anonymous phone call that reported a 'drug deal' was underway on Hickman Ave.
The caller was emotional and requested the officers conceal their identity from the public, according to the report.
Only brief notes were typed in the incident report, including one which claimed the reporting person, "said they were there to buy a bunch of meth."
This call led an unnamed officer to respond to the area of Mcintire Elementary School, where he confronted 25-year-old Cody McCaulou.
The caller described a tan, bulk Lesabre sedan with Tennessee license plates.
When the officer arrived, the report said he spotted a vehicle of a similar make and model, registered to Michael Netherton Sr., McCaulou's father.
At 10:01 a.m., the officer reported that the vehicle crashed into the north side wall of McIntire Elementary School. The officer reported shots fired 14 seconds later.
McCaulou was pronounced dead at the University Hospital in Columbia on Dec. 31.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues its investigation of the incident and a special prosecutor was appointed Friday to determine if any criminal charges are warranted.
