Mizzou women’s basketball snaps losing streak
The Mizzou women's basketball team defeated LSU, 69-65, to end a five-game losing streak.
With the win, Mizzou improves to 4-11 (1-1 SEC). The victory ends the longest losing streak in program history since the 2012-13 season.
Aijha Blackwell was Mizzou's best player in the game finishing with her first career double-double. Blackwell scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds. Amber Smith and Jordan Chavis each scored 13 points, and Hayley Frank scored 11 points off the bench.
Mizzou held LSU to just 7 percent shooting from three. Meanwhile, Mizzou shot 33.3 percent from three and 51.1 percent from the field.
Mizzou jumped out to a hot start and led by as much as 23 points in the first half. Mizzou led, 42-21, at half, but LSU went on a run to close the gap to two points late in the fourth quarter. Clutch free throws from Blackwell, Smith and Haley Troup helped seal the win.
Mizzou returns to the court to face (15) Mississippi State on Thursday.
