Mizzou basketball falls to No. 17 Kentucky on the road

The Mizzou basketball team began its SEC schedule with a 71-59 loss to the (17) Kentucky Wildcats.

The loss ends a four-game winning streak for Mizzou. The Tigers are 8-5 (0-1 SEC).

Dru Smith led the Tigers in scoring with 11 points while Kobe Brown had nine points. Immanuel Quickley had 23 points for the Wildcats, and Nick Richards had 21 points. The Tigers shot just 36.3 percent from the field.

Mizzou kept things close and trailed by just five points at half. However, Kentucky began to pull away after a Torrence Watson three brought the game to within four points.

Mizzou returns home to face Tennessee on Jan. 7 at 6:00 p.m.
