Watson’s record night leads Mizzou to fourth straight win
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou basketball team dominated Chicago State 91-33 on Monday night.
Mizzou guard Torrence Watson set a new Mizzou Arena record with eight three-pointers. He finished with a season-high 24 points in 19 minutes. (8-13 from three-point range).
"Oh man - it does a lot of things for me. It makes me want to work even harder actually because I want those shots to keep falling in," Watson said after the game. "I mean it's a really bad feeling when shots are not falling and you shoot three pointers, so it just really made me want to keep working and just want to keep getting my teammates some assists."
"He's really put the work in the past three weeks, and to see the shot fall for him is good," Head coach Cuonzo Martin said after the game. "I mean it's just good for our team and our guys are happy to see him happy."
Mizzou made a season high 16 three-pointers on Monday. The Tigers were 16-31 from beyond the arc.
"It's a good feeling, but it changes who we are when you're able to make shots, especially when they're defending at the level they defend at," Coach Martin said.
The Tigers are now 8-4 overall. Mizzou will begin conference play on Saturday on the road against No. 17 Kentucky at 1 p.m.
