Authorities respond to crash near 63-70 Connector in Columbia
Update: Boone County Joint Communications posted on twitter saying Highway 63 Southbound off-ramp to the 63 connector is back open.
Police say Hallie Jenkins, 79, suffered serious injuries and Megan Alexander 26, suffered minor injuries when their vehicles collided in the intersection near Clark Lane and Highway 63.
Around 5:10 Friday night, officers were called to the intersection of the 63 connector and Clark Lane to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival CPD officers, EMS and fire personnel on scene had to extricate Jenkins from his vehicle.
Both drivers involved live in Columbia and had to be transported to local area hospitals.
"One of the individuals, a late 70's male was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and a second female in the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries," Tate said.
MoDOT assisted in closing the southbound entrance to the Highway 63 connector from Highway 63 while the CPD traffic division conducted an investigation.

"It appears to be an intersection crash where one vehicle traveling northbound on the Highway 63 connector collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on Clark Lane at the Highway 63 connector," said Brian Tate, a Columbia Police Department Lieutenant.
Southbound Highway 63 is closed as authorities work the incident.

Authorities tell our crews at the scene two people suffered injuries and were taken to the University Hospital.
According to officials, one driver had life-threatening injuries and was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt. He had to be extricated from his car, authorities say.
The other driver suffered moderate injuries.
Both cars were totaled.
Our crews on scene say Columbia Police are directing traffic during the response.
