Slick roads cause some crashes for Tuesday morning commute

Most roads in mid-Missouri were still snow-covered on Tuesday morning, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation traveler map.

Two crashes were reported in Boone County by 7 a.m. The first crash was at the Missouri River bridge near Rocheport. Westbound lanes were closed off due to the crash but have since re-opened.

Another crash just before 7 a.m. caused part of College Avenue to be closed at Hospital Drive due to a slide off.

A 25-person crew with Columbia Public Works reported to work to clear roads overnight Monday.

MoDOT said drivers should watch out for roads that have frozen overnight and any black ice that might be a danger on the roadway.

Columbia Public Schools have called off Tuesday classes, and Jefferson City Schools will start late as snow continues to cover some roads in Mid-Missouri. A full list of all closings and delays can be found here.
