Gas leak briefly shuts down Columbia streets

MGN Online

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Authorities briefly shut down some downtown Columbia streets Friday because of a gas leak.

Parts of Elm and Fifth streets were shut down at about 12:30 p.m. after a vehicle hit a gas meter at 223 Fifth St., Columbia Fire Department Assistant Chief Brad Fraizer said. The roads reopened about 30 minutes later.

First responders considered evacuations but none were ordered, Fraizer said.

An Ameren Missouri spokesperson said service was interrupted to one building.
