Woman charged with stealing from Food Stamp program

OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Osage County prosecutors charged a woman Tuesday for allegedly stealing public assistance benefits.

According to a probable cause statement, the Missouri Department of Social Services, Division of Legal Services investigated. The agency claims Amanda Roberts stole a total of $22,002 in public assistance benefits, specifically food stamps, over a three year period.

Court documents said Roberts lied on multiple applications by not mentioning her husband or her husband's income.

Court records show she is charged with stealing, two counts of unlawfully receiving public assistance benefits and receiving stolen property.

Robert's arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 7.
