MARIES COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Maries County Sheriff's Office searched for a man accused of stealing a vehicle on Friday.

Missouri Highway Patrol Troop F spokesman Scott White said troopers recognized Shay Vinson's car and tried to pull him over Friday morning. Troopers started the chase around 10:30 a.m.

Deputies posted on Facebook that a high-speed chase ended in the area Maries County Roads 402 and 405.

Authorities said Vinson allegedly fled during the pursuit and left two women, one of whom was injured, entrapped in his vehicle after he crashed.

The Sheriff's Office asked people who live nearby to lock their vehicles, and they said Vinson should be considered armed. Troopers said Vinson stole a dump truck from a nearby residence and later crashed it into a creek.

The sheriff's office said authorities were scaling back search efforts at 3:24 p.m.
