Columbia police investigate armed robbery at gas station

Several Columbia police officers respond to the BreakTime gas station on Forum Boulevard.

The Columbia Police Department said it is investigating an armed robbery Thursday morning.

Authorities responded to the BreakTime gas station on Forum Boulevard just before 3 a.m.

Police described the suspect as a male wearing a black coat with a hood and wearing what appeared to be camouflage pants.

Surveillance video at the store showed the robber pointing a gun at the clerk and demanding money. According to police, he managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt in the incident.

Police searched the nearby area where they believe the robber escaped on foot. They followed snow tracks leading from the BreakTime parking lot to Forum Boulevard, but they did not find him.

An investigation is underway.
