Warner was a CPD officer for 27 years and served as a school resource officer from 2009 until he retired in 2014, according to his obituary at Dignity Memorial.
Warner went on to work for the Center for Education Safety/Missouri School Board Association until his death, his obituary said.
John Warner Middle School is scheduled to open in August 2020. It's located on Sinclair Road near Southampton Drive.
