Higbee man dies in Moberly crash

EDITOR's NOTE: The name of the man killed in the crash has been corrected.

A man from Higbee died Wednesday when his truck hit a tree in Moberly.

Moberly police were sent to the 1800 block of South Morley Street at 10:22 a.m. and found a 1999 Chevrolet truck that had run into a tree, Moberly police said in a news release. The driver, Kevin A. Sullivan, 60, was trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Witnesses told police the truck was going south when it suddenly sped up and drifted off the side of the road before hitting the tree, according to the release. An autopsy is pending.

The road was closed until about 12:30 p.m., police said.
