The Missouri Department of Fire Safety is looking into reports the fire at a gas station Friday started in a kitchen.

Mike O'Connell a spokesman with the Missouri Department of Public Safety said multiple Stuckey's employees reported the fire started in the grill area at the gas station.

According to O'Connell, the building was a complete loss.

"There will likely be little at the scene that will assist to the extent of the destruction," O'Connell said.

The fire Friday caused delays on Interstate 70 as crews battled the blaze. Route J that runs in front of the area was closed at the time.

Fire departments from around Mid-Missouri aided the Blackwater Area Fire Protection District. Crews from nine area departments were at the scene.
