MoDOT brings drivers tips to prepare cars for cold weather

Winter car tips

As winter-like weather rolls in, vehicles may need a few more turns of the key to start up.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has several tips on its website about how drivers can prepare their vehicle:

  • Use fresh antifreeze to winterize the vehicle,
  • Make sure the vehicle's battery is working as it should,
  • Check to see if the vehicle's exhaust system is operating properly and
  • Use good oil that can withstand the cold temperatures

MoDOT also said drivers should do a pre-trip inspection before each trip by checking tires, brakes, windshield wipers and windshield wiper fluid.
