JCPD investigates homicide on Rolling Hills Drive
Officers from the Jefferson City Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly shooting incident in the 1900 block of Rolling Hills Drive Thursday morning.
The department received a call of shots fired in the area shortly before 3:30 a.m. JCPD said it also received a call before arriving at the scene that a person was suffering serious gunshot wounds.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Cole County EMS officials.
JCPD did not release any information about the victim, citing the notification of the next of kin.
"It's really surprising actually," said nearby resident Patrick Casey. "I've been here for 30 years. The hospital was a field when I moved in and I've never heard of this happening around here before."
No information about possible suspects was provided in a Thursday morning press release. ABC 17 News contacted JCPD for more information.

According to the data, there was one homicide in 2014 and three in 2015.
