Employee suffers minor injury in McDonald’s robbery

Police are seeking two men after an armed robbery at McDonald’s on Stadium Boulevard.

Columbia police told ABC 17 News crews at the scene that two men struck an employee with a gun at the fast food store. Authorities were called to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. Monday.

A Columbia Police Department news release said employees told one of the robbers there was no access to the safe or cash, prompting the assault.

The McDonald spokesperson for Columbia, Lili Vianello said the employee who was hit is “fine” now.

“He was struck with something, but he is fine, and we expect him to return for his normal shift tomorrow,” Vianello said.

The McDonald’s spokesperson said the fast food chain was receiving its morning delivery truck.

“A couple of men tried to enter the restaurant by the backdoor and encountered a number of our employees,” Vianello said.

Police said they are waiting to review security footage of the incident.

Witnesses said the suspects are two men in their 20s, one wearing a gray hoodie and another wearing a black hoodie.
