Second person arrested in pawn shop burglary

Columbia police arrested a second person Saturday in connection with a reported burglary at a pawn shop, according to a news release.

Officers arrested Alexander Mears, 20, and Tyler Hilderman, 26. ABC 17 first reported Hilderman had been arrested on Sept. 27.

CPD investigated the reported burglary at Tiger Pawn. Police found 66 guns had been stolen on Sept. 16.

The investigation resulted in multiple search warrants and probable cause for the arrest of two suspects, according to the release.

The Columbia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are actively working on leads to recover more stolen firearms from this burglary, according to the release.

The release said the investigation is still underway.
