Deputies arrest woman who swam across river to flee them
UPDATE: Deputies arrested the woman involved in Monday morning’s incident, according to a post on the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Deputies identified the woman as Jasmine Bronger, 25, of Columbia.
Authorities said dispatch received a report around 4:48 p.m. from a local resident that Bronger was approaching their house. Deputies arrived and took Bronger into custody on an outstanding Boone County warrant for violation of a court order on the original charges of burglary and theft/stealing, according to the post.
ORIGINAL: Deputies with the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a woman who ran from them Monday morning and got away by swimming across the Lamine River.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, deputies went to Harriman Hill Lamine River Access near Blackwater to help a local conservation agent.
When deputies arrived around 11 a.m., they arrested a 55-year-old Sedalia man on outstanding warrants, authorities said. During the investigation, a 25-year-old woman ran from the scene and swam across the Lamine river, according to the post.
Deputies said she was last seen in an area south of I-70 and east of the river. Authorities ask that residents in the area report any suspicious women. She is white, 5-foot-4 and 185 pounds with hazel eyes and dark hair. Authorities said she was last seen wearing jeans and a bra.
