STL judge rules in favor of Planned Parenthood
A judge has prohibited Missouri from allowing the St. Louis Planned Parenthood clinic’s license to expire.
St. Louis Circuit Judge Michael Stelzer issued the order Friday, the same day the clinic’s license to perform abortions was set to expire.
The ruling also comes one day after the judge heard an hour of arguments on Planned Parenthood’s request for a temporary restraining order to keep the state from letting the license expire. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services had declined to renew the license, citing concerns about patient safety and legal violations.
According to the order, Planned Parenthood’s license shall not expire and remain in effect until a ruling on Planned Parenthood’s request for a preliminary injunction.
A hearing on the preliminary injunction is set for June 4.
