Jefferson City publishes interactive flood stage map

Jefferson City’s GIS office published an interactive map late Tuesday afternoon ahead of a predicted major flood at the Missouri River.

The National Weather Service predicted that the river will crest at 32.7 feet Wednesday evening, more than 2 feet above the Capitol View Levy in northern Jefferson CIty.

Jefferson City Public Works director Britt Smith said the department is warning resident who live in flood-prone areas of the city to consider taking safety measures including evacuation.

The city published both the Flood Action Plan and the interactive flood stage map.
