I-70 closure expected through Wednesday

Missouri Department of Transportation crews have begun work on the Missouri River Bridge near Rocheport, according to MoDOT.

A news release from the department said crews will be working 24 hours until the repairs are complete. It is expected to be complete Wednesday.

The department said crews are replacing expansion joints, which helps the bridge expand and contract. Despite the wear and tear, MoDOT said the bridge is safe for drivers.

According to the news release, the department will start on the eastbound driving lane before moving to the eastbound passing lane. The westbound lane will stay open.

Speed limits going eastbound will be adjusted to 45 mph.
