Law enforcement agencies searching for Mexico man accused of dragging police officer

The Mexico Department of Public Safety has named the man accused of dragging a police officer following a traffic stop Monday morning.

Trevor B. Pepper, 21, of Mexico, was pulled over by police around 12:14 a.m. in the 400 block of West Promenade Street.

Police said Pepper had an active warrant issued by Audrain County for his arrest.

An officer who was halfway inside Pepper’s vehicle was hurt when dragged for two blocks as Pepper drove away from the traffic stop.

Police said the officer’s gun went off during the incident.

The officer, who fell from Pepper’s moving vehicle, was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released.

No one else was hurt.

Police told ABC 17 News Pepper isn’t a threat to the community.
