Columbia man accused of hitting person with metal pipe

A Columbia man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly hit someone in the ribs with a metal pipe.

Deputies were called to the 7300 block of East Suncrest Court Sunday morning. When they arrived, the victim was lying on the ground unconscious, according to court documents. Witnesses told police the victim was hit in the ribs with a metal pipe.

The victim was taken to University Hospital and later told police that Billy R. Jackson Jr. was asked to leave the home on East Suncrest Court where the victim was. Jackson came back to the home a few minutes later, and after the victim tried talking to Jackson. Jackson then allegedly hit the victim with a metal wind chime, court documents said.

Jackson then ran away and was later booked into the Boone County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond.
