Flight out of Columbia Regional Airport makes emergency landing in Bloomington
Mechanical problems caused a flight out of Columbia Regional Airport and bound for O’Hare International Airport in Chicago to make an emergency landing Sunday night.
ABC 17’s sister station HOIABC in Peoria reports that the United Airlines flight had been scheduled to land just before 8 p.m. but declared an emergency onboard.
Regional carrier SkyWest spokeswoman Marissa Snow told our affiliate that the plane landed after receiving a “mechanical indication.”
She said it was “due to an overabundance of caution, rather than an active threat to the plane.”
No injuries were reported.
CIRA tweeted about the landing around 9:15 p.m. saying, “We are serving up some Central Illinois hospitality waiting for a replacement aircraft to take them to O’Hare.”
