Deputies searching for Miller County mom accused of burning baby

ABC 17 News confirmed Thursday deputies in Miller County are searching for a woman accused of burning her baby.

According to public records, a judge issued a no-bond arrest warrant for Elizabeth G. Austin, 25, of Lake Ozark, after she failed to appear for a court hearing Wednesday morning.

Lake Ozark Police said her 6-month-old daughter was taken to the hospital with severe burns in February after the child was left alone in a bathtub.

Austin told police she was trying to get her 4-year-old child, who was walking around with a knife, under control, according to the probable cause statement.

Police said Austin told officers her 2-year-old child, who was with the baby in the bathroom, pushed the infant’s bathtub under a faucet and turned the water on hot.

According to court documents, police found methamphetamine and items used to do drugs in Austin’s home.

Austin is charged with two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance.
