Versailles man leads police on multi-county chase

One person was arrested early Tuesday morning after leading Moniteau County deputies on a chase through Moniteau and Cole counties.

Eric J. Riggs, 39, of Versailles, was allegedly parked in the parking lot of Salem Baptist Church on Highway N near Kliever when deputies investigated the suspicious activity. Riggs then allegedly fled from police and sent them on a chase that went into Cole County, then back into Moniteau County.

Riggs eventually came to a stop on Lookout Trail near California, Missouri, and was taken into custody. Riggs was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death. He’s being held on a $15,000 bond.
