American Airlines to add flights at Columbia Regional Airport
More flights will be added to the schedule at Columbia Regional Airport next month.
American Airlines said it will offer four flights per day from Columbia to Chicago instead of the current two starting May 3. An airline spokesperson wrote in an email that the move was made because of “strong performance” of the flights from Columbia to Chicago.
The airline also offers flights to and from Dallas Ft. Worth and United Airlines offers daily flights to and from Chicago and Denver.
The news comes just days after the airport’s runway reopened following emergency repairs. The repairs were prompted by pilot and passenger complaints about a large bump on the runway associated with a drainage feature.
The bump became an issue after the airport’s main runway was closed April 1 for a rehabilitation project and commercial flights started using the secondary runway. Flights resumed Sunday after the runway was closed for less than a week.
