Police arrest man after chase, crash in Columbia
Police arrested one person in connection with a chase and crash Friday night in Columbia, according to an officer at the scene.
Boone County Joint Communications said the wreck closed the intersection of West Boulevard at I-70 Drive Southwest around 8:30 p.m.
A witness told ABC 17 News he saw the vehicle speed around a corner and crash into a concrete barrier.
An officer at the scene said the driver tried to flee from police when they tried to pull him over before wrecking the vehicle.
The officer said the man was wanted for a domestic violence call.
Police said the driver ran from the scene on foot and while being pursued, officers saw the man try to discared a firearm.
Officers said they caught the suspect in the cemetery across I-70.
The suspect and the passenger were taken to the hospital without serious injuries, police said.
