Man arrested in Moberly after fleeing “recklessly” from traffic stop

Moberly police said they have arrested a man on charges of DWI, resisting arrest, and driving while revoked.

According to police, an officer tried to stop James Robert Shepherd III in the 1400 block of north Morley Street on Friday around 11 p.m. The vehicle apparently refused to stop, sped up, and began running stop signs in attempts to flee.

“Due to the reckless behavior of the driver, the decision was made not to pursue the vehicle,” said police in a press release.

Officers searching the area found the vehicle abandoned and still running in the yard of a residence in the Allendale Manner subdivision.

After talking with people at the residence, they ended up finding Shepherd. They determined he was the driver that fled.

As of 9 p.m. Saturday, he was in the Randolph County Jail being held on a $15,000 cash only bond.
