New rules for conflicts of interest considered on Jefferson City ballot Tuesday

Jefferson City voters are considering whether to tighten the rules governing conflicts of interest in Tuesday’s general municipal elections.

“Proposition D” would affect city officials or employees who serve on the boards of not-for-profits, volunteer organizations and other political subdivisions.

The question:

“Shall Section 12.1 of Article XII (General Provisions) of the Charter of the City of Jefferson be amended to prohibit certain action constituting a conflictof interest where a city official or employee as also serves on the governing body of an voluntary board, non-profit corporation, or political subdivision, as provided in Ordinance No. 15874 passed and approved by the City Council on January 14th, 2019?”
