Slight chance of snow tonight as active weather returns

TONIGHT: Clouds will be increasing throughout the evening, leading to mostly cloudy skies overnight tonight. We’ll see a system moving through some of our northern counties tonight, leading to a chance of some light snow. A dusting is possible in extreme northern portions of the viewing area. Winds will turn out of a more easterly direction tonight, as temperatures will be slightly warmer than the last couple of nights, only dipping into the middle 20s.

THURSDAY: We’ll see that chance of light snow showers continuing into the morning on Thursday, but with temperatures making it to near 40 further south, we’ll see a chance of light rain toward the afternoon and evening.

EXTENDED: Quiet weather will take over for a brief period closing out the week, with temperatures continuing that upward trend, making it into the middle 40s under mostly cloudy skies on Friday. That quiet weather will be short-lived, as rain makes a return heading into this weekend. If you have plans outside for Saturday, you might want to start thinking about backup plans as widespread rainfall will be moving in early in the day on Saturday. With temperatures making it near 60 for Saturday, that opens the door to see some thunderstorms and possibly a strong one or two as the atmosphere destabilizes. The severe threat still looks limited, with the better chance further south in the viewing area, closer toward I-44. This all comes as a cold front pushes through the region, which will knock temperatures back for Sunday, but still in the middle 40s in the afternoon. Temperatures starting out next week will stay in the middle to upper 40s with continued sunshine.
