Columbia to open overnight warming center this weekend

The city of Columbia is opening a temporary overnight warming center this weekend due to expected cold weather.

The city said it plans to open the Wabash Station from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

In addition, the Columbia winter shelter, Room at the Inn, is extending its service one week.

Room at the Inn will now be open until March 9. The organization said it is in need of volunteers for a variety of shifts at Broadway Christian Church each day between 5:30 p.m. and 8 a.m.
