Two people charged in Maries County with animal neglect are due in court next month.

Anna C. Wadlow and Steven C. Wadlow, both of Vichy, are scheduled to appear for hearings March 26 at 9:30 a.m.

According to court documents obtained by ABC 17 News, deputies investigated their properties in the 18000 block of Maries Road 519, near Highway 63, after receiving reports of animal abuse Feb. 16.

Deputies said a witness told them two dogs were found without food or water on the property when the witness was asked to pick up the animals.

The witness reported the Tri-County Humane Society said the dogs were both in poor condition.

Anna Wadlow had reportedly not been to her home in one or two weeks.

Deputies said five additional dogs, five cats, four pigeons and a pot bellied pig were found in poor health during their investigation.

A rabbit was also found dead inside a hutch.

Court documents reveal the animals were transported by the group Saving St. Louis Pets to the Humane Society.

Prosecutors have charged Steven Wadlow with one count of misdemeanor animal neglect or abuse.
