Court docs: Man handcuffs himself to officer in jail

A man was charged with first-degree assault and kidnapping Thursday after he allegedly held a Boone County correctional officer against her will.

According to court documents, Jessie Williams asked for his meal tray to be removed, and as the door opened, he allegedly charged through the door and struck the female officer with his body. Williams then put her in a choke hold and grabbed her handcuffs, documents said.

Williams placed one of the handcuffs on her wrist and placed the other on his wrist. He then said, “you are mine,” and continued to strike and choke the officer.

The officer was able to break free of the choke hold and gain control with the assistance of other corrections officers.

Williams is being held in the Boone County Jail on a $550,000 cash-only bond. That bond includes charges against Williams for his alleged involvement in an unprovoked attack on a homeless man in December.
