Former clerk Taylor Burks named to state job

Outgoing Boone County clerk Taylor Burks has been tapped for a state job.

Burks will start Jan. 14 as the director of the Division of Labor Standards in the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Burks, a Republican, was appointed Boone County clerk in 2017 by then-Gov. Eric Greitens after longtime Democratic clerk Wendy Noren left office for health reasons.

Democrat Brianna Lennon defeated Burks in the November general election to take the office.

Burks has degrees from Truman State University, Washington University and the University of Oklahoma. He worked for the University of Missouri System before becoming county clerk and served in the U.S. Navy before that.
