No one hurt in fire at Columbia apartment building

No one was hurt when a fire started in the kitchen of a Columbia apartment building Friday.

A Columbia Fire Department official said firefighters were called early Friday afternoon to 1609 Windsor St. after neighbors smelled smoke. Firefighters found the fire in the kitchen of one of the apartments and were able to stop it from spreading. Smoke went throughout the building and there was smoke damage to the apartment where the fire happened.

It wasn’t immediately clear exactly what started the fire.
