Pursuit ends in Highway 50 crash

UPDATE 4:40 P.M.: Lt. David Williams with the Jefferson City Police Department said in a news release that the chase that ended in a crash on Highway 50 started when Moniteau County deputies tried to pull a vehicle over for hazardous driving.

The chase went into Cole County and then Jefferson City at high speed and the suspect caused another vehicle to crash onto Missouri Boulevard from Highway 50 after sideswiping it, Williams wrote in a news release. That driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect’s vehicle continued driving eastbound, went into the median and crashed into the embankment separating Missouri Boulevard from Highway 50, Williams said. The driver was arrested without incident and charges are pending.

Cleanup after the crash closed westbound Highway 50 for about 30-45 minutes.
