MODOT and Columbia Regional Airport prepare for holiday travel season
The Missouri Department of Transportation prepared the roads for holiday travelers.
Crews checked roadways for debris, filled potholes and checked traffic signals.
MODOT will have crews on standby through the holiday travel period to help with delays or crashes.
Officials recommend checking the MODOT Traveler Map for traffic conditions.
“That map will show you incidents, back-ups anything like that around Columbia, Boone County,” said MODOT Supervisor Richard Skelton. “If you’re headed to St. Louis, that map is statewide so it will show you what the traffic looks like all over the state.”
The holiday travel season is expected to break records.
AAA predicts more people will travel this holiday season than ever before.
Columbia Regional Airport opened both security screening lines Friday for additional airport travelers.

Airport Manager Mike Parks said he recommends checking packing guidelines and rules.
“It will help things go much smoother as you go through the screening process,” he said.
