New Bloomfield approves policing agreement with Holts Summit

The Holts Summit Police Department will continue servicing New Bloomfield in 2019.

The New Bloomfield Board of Aldermen approved the $35,000 contract at its meeting Tuesday night, with one alderman voting against.

According to the cooperative agreement, Holts Summit officers will be assigned to patrol and respond in Holts Summit and New Bloomfield on a full-time basis.

In the contract, New Bloomfield agreed officers may be reassigned to other duties at the discretion of Holts Summit and that the officers are employees of Holts Summit, not New Bloomfield.

New Bloomfield will be expected to make two payments of $17,500, one by March 31 and one by Sept. 30.

Holts Summit began extending its police services in New Bloomfield six months ago and Holts Summit Assistant Police Chief Shannon Jeffries said the department has received positive feedback.

Three New Bloomfield residents spoke at Tuesday night’s meeting to thank the Holts Summit Police Department.
