Rain tonight, drying for the weekend

TONIGHT: The rain continues into the night and it will be breezy with winds out of the north up to 15mph, with gusts as high as 25. Rain will be more steady and moderate at times near I-44 with showers more scattered to spotty farther northeast. Patchy dense fog is possible by morning.

FRIDAY: Rain showers will end Friday morning in most areas but south of HWY 54, light rain could linger into the afternoon. Total rain amounts will range from near an inch near I-44 to a half inch near I-70 to only a tenth farther north. Northerly winds will usher in drier air through the day Friday with high temperatures staying in the lower 40s, dipping to near 30 Friday night as skies gradually clear in our northwestern counties but clouds will linger along and south of HWY 54 with showers possible through the overnight hours.

EXTENDED: Morning rain near I-44 Saturday will end and we will dry out as we head into the weekend, with afternoon highs near 50 and partly cloudy skies both Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s to low 30s. A dry weather pattern is setting up for next week as we stay in a milder weather pattern.
