Man charged after 17 pounds of weed found in car
A Kansas man was charged on Thursday after he allegedly had 17 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
According to court documents, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper pulled over Jerry Anderson in October at the Eagle Stop Gas Station on Highway 135 off Interstate 70. Anderson was driving a rental car he said was rented by his sister.
Anderson told the trooper there were no illegal items in the car and did not give the trooper permission to search the car, according to the documents. However, when the trooper deployed his K9 unit, the dog alerted him to drugs in the car.
The trooper discovered a large trash bag in the trunk of the car, which contained 17 bundles of marijuana, weighing one pound each, the documents said. Anderson admitted to trafficking marijuana.
Anderson is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
