Columbia roofing company owner with history of complaints charged with stealing

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday in Miller County for Scott Treffert, the owner of Columbia-based company Signature Roofing.

Treffert was charged Tuesday with felony stealing, accused of taking more than $26,000 from an Eldon couple for home repairs that never happened.

The victim, who requested to remain anonymous, told ABC 17 News they hired Treffert in 2017 after being referred by a friend. Their home had been damaged by a storm and needed a variety of repairs.

Treffert was paid $26,849 up front for the work, but didn’t come close to finishing. The victim said he partially replaced the roof, but did not begin work on the other various tasks he was hired to complete.

This is not the first time complaints have been filed against Treffert and his company. For more, click here, here, and here.
