Storage unit thefts continue in Callaway County

Callaway County law enforcement officials have now made five arrests in connection to a slew of storage unit thefts throughout the past few weeks.

Most recently, Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joseph Bailey, 58, and Stacey Bailey, 35, of Auxvasse in connection to thefts from storage units.

Missouri State Highway Patrol authorities observed a wanted vehicle driving west of Mexico on Wednesday, according to a release sent from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office. Joseph was driving the vehicle when they pulled him over, and there were multiple stolen items in the car. Joseph is being held on burglary, stealing, and tampering with a motor vehicle charges in the Callaway County Jail on no bond.

Callaway County deputies also responded to a home in Auxvasse on South Main Street on Wednesday. Stacey was in the home, and officers found multiple stolen items at the home, including a stolen vehicle.

Stacey is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a $13,500 bond for burglary, stealing and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Law enforcement officials said they expect to make more arrests connected to storage unit thefts as investigations continue.
