Rain chances linger into the evening hours, with clearing skies overnight
THURSDAY: Light rain continues to fall across Mid-Missouri this afternoon, so an umbrella will be needed for the lunch hour. Cloudy skies and rain are keeping temperatures on the cool side, with afternoon highs struggling to climb into the lower 50s. Rain will linger into the afternoon hours, but will gradually taper off as we head into the evening. Areas north of I-70 that stay largely rain free today will likely see temperatures jump into the lower 50s as we head through the day.
TONIGHT: Rain will come to an end with a brief clearing of clouds expected overnight. Any areas that see mostly clear skies through the night will only amount to 1-2 hours, but we’ll have to watch for a small chance for patchy fog to develop. Following the brief bout of clear skies, clouds will return ahead of our next system that will impact us by Friday. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s, with wind chill readings tomorrow morning sitting in the mid 30s.
EXTENDED: Another cold front will drop south Friday, bringing another chance of rain and keeping us in the low 50s Friday afternoon. Showers will be spotty and end by Friday evening and lows will drop into the mid 30s overnight. The active weather pattern sticks around as we head into the weekend with rain possible north of I-70 Saturday. Sunday brings a better chance for rain as another cold front tracks though, as we start off the week on a cloudy and damp note. The unsettled pattern continues through next Tuesday with rain chances continuing. Rainfall accumulations the next seven days could top out near two inches for parts of Mid-Missouri, which will effectively end our drought for all of us if we see that much rain.
