Police look for second suspect in home invasion

The Columbia Police Department arrested one man and is looking for another man after an armed home invasion on Wednesday night.

The robbery happened in the 100 block of West North Cedar Lake Drive. An investigation revealed “two males forced entry into the residence while brandishing firearms and stole property from the residence,” according to police.

One suspect, Christopher T. Russell, 19, of Columbia was arrested for first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to identify and locate the second suspect.

According to court documents, the men entered the victim’s home and assaulted her by hitting her in the back of the head with a gun, causing her to fall to the ground. The men searched her home and held her at gunpoint. They took her cell phone and fled the residence.

The second suspect was described as a “slender male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches and 150 lbs.”
