Columbia police unable to find evidence of gun shots after reports

Columbia police couldn’t find any evidence of gunfire, despite reports from people in the area about a loud bang Tuesday night.

A delivery driver told police that a man fired a gun at them around 7:45 p.m. at Burnam and Clarkson roads. The area is a half-mile from the MU campus, near Stadium Boulevard and Providence Road. The driver said the man was wearing a flat billed hat with a St. Louis Cardinals t-shirt and khaki shorts. Police said the driver saw the suspect running east toward Providence Road after the alleged shooting.

ABC 17 News crews saw police officers searching for evidence, but the department said no evidence of a shooting, such as bullets or casings, could be found. Residents in the area, though, reported hearing a loud “bang” around that time, according to the news release.

Police said no one was found injured and no property was found damaged.
